05 JAN 2006

Day 1 of drama class:
We did an awareness excersize, and some walking meditation. Although I have had experience doing awareness activities in the past, I was alarmed by the things that Raymon pointed out:
The water stain on the ceiling, where the electric outlets were, the multi-textured floor. My favourite part was reflection… reflection on “how you got here”. I thought about how I spilled apple juice on my pants that morning in the car, went to the admin building, and stood in the ladies’ washroom on an office chair to blow dry my pants with the hand dryer; which was followed by me going to the J. Mitchell building, pretending to know where I was going, as if I knew where the class was. Of course, I was totally confused.
Raymon told us to be aware of

............................................space.

Space is the actor’s tool, the actor’s instrument. The actor uses space, the actor needs space.
Raymon then told us to observe our breathing, how calm we were. It was nice.
He also showed us briefly how he could change space, by surprising us with a aggressive booming voice: “I can CHANGE space!”. That’s one big thing that I learned.
